O excesso de colesterol no organismo pode aumentar o risco de doen\u00e7as cardiovasculares, como infarto agudo do mioc\u00e1rdio, acidente vascular cerebral (AVC) e doen\u00e7a arterial perif\u00e9rica, e tamb\u00e9m j\u00e1 amea\u00e7a a sa\u00fade de 27,4% de crian\u00e7as e adolescentes brasileiros, segundo estudos da UFMG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Os riscos de ter colesterol alto no sangue incluem um aumento significativo do risco de doen\u00e7as cardiovasculares, como a doen\u00e7a arterial coronariana, que pode levar a angina (dor no peito) e at\u00e9 mesmo a um ataque card\u00edaco. Al\u00e9m disso, o colesterol elevado est\u00e1 associado a um maior risco de acidente vascular cerebral (AVC), doen\u00e7a arterial perif\u00e9rica, doen\u00e7a arterial renal e disfun\u00e7\u00e3o er\u00e9tIl em homens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u00c9 fundamental controlar os n\u00edveis de colesterol por meio de uma dieta equilibrada, exerc\u00edcios regulares, evitando o tabagismo e o consumo excessivo de \u00e1lcool, al\u00e9m de realizar exames peri\u00f3dicos para monitorar a sa\u00fade cardiovascular, incluindo crian\u00e7as e jovens, uma faixa et\u00e1ria suscet\u00edvel ao alto consumo de alimentos industrializados e com alto teor de gordura\u201d, explica o cardiologista Luiz Guilherme Velloso, da rede de hospitais <a href=\"https:\/\/hospitalsaocamilosp.org.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">S\u00e3o Camilo<\/a> de S\u00e3o Paulo, e tamb\u00e9m professor de cardiologia do <a href=\"https:\/\/saocamilo-sp.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Centro Universit\u00e1rio S\u00e3o Camilo.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Heran\u00e7a gen\u00e9tica<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>O colesterol alto tamb\u00e9m pode ter rela\u00e7\u00e3o com heran\u00e7a gen\u00e9tica, como \u00e9 o caso da Hipercolesterolemia Familiar (HF), que impede o f\u00edgado de remover o excesso de Lipoprote\u00ednas de baixa densidade, o LDL, popularmente conhecido como colesterol &#8220;ruim&#8221;. N\u00e3o costuma apresentar sintomas espec\u00edficos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cO colesterol elevado n\u00e3o provoca sintomas, mesmo quando est\u00e1 muito alto, o que o transforma em um fator de risco especialmente perigoso\u201d, comenta o especialista.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A eleva\u00e7\u00e3o do colesterol s\u00f3 causa sintomas quando as art\u00e9rias j\u00e1 est\u00e3o obstru\u00eddas.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>O colesterol deixa de ser saud\u00e1vel quando o n\u00edvel no sangue \u00e9 superior a 200 miligramas por decilitro de sangue (mg\/dl) em adultos. Um n\u00edvel de colesterol total inferior a 200 mg\/dl \u00e9 desej\u00e1vel, mas muitas pessoas se beneficiam ao manterem n\u00edveis de lip\u00eddios ainda mais baixos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Colesterol bom e ruim<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Observar o n\u00edvel de colesterol ruim \u00e9 mais importante do que o n\u00edvel de colesterol total. Um n\u00edvel elevado de colesterol LDL aumenta o risco de aterosclerose, enquanto a presen\u00e7a de n\u00edveis elevados de Lipoprote\u00ednas de alta densidade (HDL), chamado de colesterol \u201cbom&#8221;, pode trazer maior prote\u00e7\u00e3o contra a obstru\u00e7\u00e3o das art\u00e9rias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Por outro lado, a presen\u00e7a de um n\u00edvel baixo de colesterol HDL (inferior a 40 mg\/dl) tamb\u00e9m est\u00e1 associada a um risco aumentado de aterosclerose. O risco de um ataque card\u00edaco \u00e9 mais que duas vezes maior quando o n\u00edvel de colesterol total se aproxima de 300 mg\/dl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u00c9 importante ressaltar que o colesterol em si n\u00e3o \u00e9 danoso, mas sim um lip\u00eddio essencial na forma\u00e7\u00e3o da membrana de todas as c\u00e9lulas do corpo. O LDL e o HDL devem estar equilibrados, dentro de suas faixas de normalidade. Com um estilo de vida saud\u00e1vel, e, em alguns casos, com a ajuda de medicamentos como as estatinas, \u00e9 poss\u00edvel controlar o colesterol e ter qualidade de vida\u201d, conclui
